WBC middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Amir Khan have kicked off their media obligations in preparation for their May 7th fight. will show on live here: watchtheboxing.net
Both men will meet in the center of the ring at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, where Alvarez will be putting his title on the line in a 155-pound catchweight bout against "King" Khan.
The winner of the said fight will be facing the WBC's mandatory challenger undefeated Kazakh boxer Gennady Golovkin. That would be the case if Golovkin manages to emerge victorious against his upcoming fight against Dominic Wade on April 23rd in California.
Alvarez has shown some dominance in boxing, despite being only 25 years of age. He currently holds a record of 46-1-1, with 32 victories by knockout. His lone loss came in the hands of retired undefeated boxer and the sport's former pound-for-pound king, Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr.
According to Khan, "Money May" had already laid out the blueprint on how to beat Alvarez, and he says he plans to use the same strategy in preparation for his own fight against the Mexican boxing sensation.
But Alvarez's own coach Jose "Chepo" Reynoso simply scoffed at their British adversary's claims, insinuating that Khan's plan would simply be futile.
"There is only one Mayweather," Reynoso said in a Boxingscene report. "There were many times when I wanted to sing like Pavarotti but I could never reach that voice. A lot of people want to be like Mayweather just like I want to be like Pavarotti."
Alvarez has encountered formidable opponents along the way, ones that could easily come out victorious, as well. This has given them the bravado coming into the contests, but ended up losing. This is one common occurrence, according to Reynoso, that they seemed to have gotten used to.
"If you look, during every conference the scenario is the same. All of the opponents have a lot of confidence. But at the end of the night, they all realized that they were wrong."
